2010 Paris Motor Show: Lotus unveils Esprit concept, the ultimate Lotus

Lotus grabbed the opportunity at Paris Motor show and comes out as a champion. Well, yes. Five cars all of a sudden, empowering the lurking beast roar yet again. The second one unveiled at the Paris Show was Esprit sports car which is described as the ultimate Lotus. The vehicle has the same 5.0 liter V8 engine as in Elite hybrid concept good enough for 620hp and 720 NM of torque. Engine is mated to 7 Speed DCT transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.

However, the Esprit weighs 1450kg which is 200kg less than the Elite hybrid concept car, which makes is .2 sec quicker than Elite hybrid to achieve a run from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds. The 2 seater, mid-engined, rear wheel drive Lotus Esprit sports car has its top speed locked at 205mph/h.
Additionally, Lotus Esprit sports car will be offered with F1 inspired KERS system that harvests the energy lost during the braking. The concept will enter the production in 2012 and its first deliveries to start in 2013. The possible buyers have to shell out £110,000 ($175,000 at the current rates) to buy one.
