Some modified cars are more outrageous than others, but this SLR McLaren with a gold-plated finish probably beats most of them. The gold-laden McLaren is the work of Swiss auto designer Ueli Anliker, who's been doing this kind of jewelry-encrusting onto cars for 35 years. Mr.
Anlicker describes his custom Red Gold SLR as the "absolute highlight" of his career. It's equipped with 500 rubies, some of which measure up to 35 mm in diameter, and gold plate, taking its value to a whopping $5.2 million.
