2012 Aston Martin One-77

We’ve seen the mock-up, the rolling show car, and we’ve known its going into limited production for almost a year. But for the first time in its long process of development the Aston Martin One-77 is being driven in anger, in public, and around the Nürburgring. At long last this bug splattered and rock chipped One-77 is doing what it was meant to.
The helmeted development engineer is burning up some Pirelli rubber and likely working on the car’s suspension settings. That’s exactly what it’s good for. Its pushrod dampers under full compression here on the famous Carousel corner. The data logger inside the trunk is likely measuring suspension travel and vehicle position; among other things.
Oddly enough, the driver isn’t wearing gloves. And that makes us suspect the car is closer to production ready than we thought. On close inspection of this mule, we note new 5-spoke wheels, rather than the previously seen seven spokes. Work is also being done on the side-view mirrors and rear spoiler that have tacked on bits and are covered in a good amount of tape. A sharp eye will also reveal buttons around the front fender, these we suspect are from when the car wore camouflage.
Like other exotics of this nature, if you want one of these, you shouldn’t have to ask how much… or even when it will be delivered. That’s the price to be paid for an ultimate Aston Martin powered by a 750-bhp V-12 — car and engine capable of rivaling the Ferrari 599 GTO. Can’t wait to find out what the One-77 can run for a lap time.
