It has been almost seven years we are seeing the Bentley’s Continental GT ruling the roost on the road. But now to the delight of its fans, Bentley has just unveiled the full details and images of its 2011 GT which has been brought up to date with its interior evolved and exterior made more attractive. This way, Bentley has not only put the car in line with the brand’s Mulsanne flagship but its 4.0-liter V8 engine will also join the tweaked W12 in 2011.
The 6-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine generates a massive 575hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Power is transferred to all the wheels via an updated six-speed Quickshift transmission, which halves shift times to just 200 milliseconds. New Bentley Continental GT will race from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds, with its top speed locked at 198mph. The new Bentley has a CO2 emissions level of 384 g/km, and from 2012 onwards Bentley Continental GT will receive FlexFuel technology which will reduce its CO2 emissions by up to 70%.
Apart from the 6.0 W12, from late 2011 the new Bentley Continental GT will also be available with a smaller 4.0-litre V8 engine with a high output. Some of the prominent features of the exterior include gemstone headlights, newly-extended wings, a new grille and boot lid made with aluminum Super Forming technology. There is a similar design at the rear where one can see the Mulsanne’s “double horse-shoe” theme utilized yet again.
The interior has also been updated and features a spruced-up dash, new touchscreen system with rich map imagery and a 30GB on board hard drive. The 8-inch screen displays the car’s audio system, telephone, ride and comfort settings and the very latest navigation system, which uses both an in-car hard-disc drive and a DVD player to access route data. Additionally, there are redesigned front seats that offer rear cargo an extra 46-mm of legroom, sounds are brought to you by 11-speakers from Naim and many more that one could expect in Bentley. Pricing for the 2012 will be announced at a later date.
